  uk and usa citizen 18 hour stopover in shanghai, do either of us need a visa and how do we get one?

• USA citizens are exempt from visa for a transit in Shanghai for less than 24 hours, provided they hold valid passports, visas for the onward countries, final destination tickets and have booked seats.
  UK citizen also don't need a visa if they won't leave the airport. If they will exit the airport, then a China transit visa should be applied from the China Embassy or consulate in Uk before the trip.
