Question about China F Visa (Business/Visit Visa)

  i am now in beijing, i have an F visa valid for 3 months i want to apply for residence permittence

  i am egyptian house wife visiting my husband, a student in beihang university for the comming three years.
  i have F visa valid for 3 months and i want to apply for residence permittance as a family member with my husband. they told me that i should have L visa. is it possible to apply for residence with F visa or should i apply for L visa first?? can i apply for L visa when i am in china or i must get out first

• You can try to apply an extension for your visa before it expires (usually you can stay one more month), and then change it to an L visa in the Exit and Entry department in Beijing.
  if it can not be changed to L visa, you go back to your country and apply an L visa, at least you can stay one more month.
