Good news: Chinese museums will be open free!
It is reported that Chinese museums are expected to be open free in the future. Now this plan has been tried in some cities, such as Beijing and Xian next month. Really a good news for travelers!
Compared with the admission fees of scenic spots in the world, those of China is much higher. For example, many museums and parks in other countries can be free visited. And in respect of their incomes and expenditures in other aspects, this is really a small dish. However, tourism is only a special right for medium-above classes in China, while some of most popular sights are still out of the hope of medium class.
This problem have been discussed heatly recently. And Chinese government had particularly stress that no rise of admission fees of scenci spots in China. The future for tourists is bright. :)Asked by Ellen (CN) | Feb. 19, 2008 09:09Answer Question

- Good news! It saves a lot of money for travelers like me who are interested in the history and culture of China.
Yes, admission fees of other scenic spots are also quite high, sometimes we have to spend additional money within the scenic spots, really confusing and costly! If those charges can be lowered, that's better! I think the tourist market of China would be more active then, attracting both home and foreign visitors!Answered by Steven (UK) | Feb. 20, 2008 08:53 - It is relevant to the economic development in some extent. It can not be decided by one person acturally, even the Chairman of China. Hope the dlligent and courageous Chinese can try their best to work for the country. After the economics progressed to a new phase, the open-free for Chinese museums could be realized.Answered by Phoebe (CN) | Feb. 22, 2008 09:53
