Transport from Guilin to Xinyi
What is the best way to travel from Guilin to Xinyi? Please help!
I will be in Guilin from 3/1 to 5/1. I want to visit my relatives in Xinyi. Is there any long distance bus between the two cities? It will be great if any one can help to give me some info for schedule, price and duration of the journey. ThanksAsked by Jenny (Australia) | Dec. 27, 2011 09:08Answer Question

- Hi Jenny,
by Xinyi you mean the Xinyi in Maoming, Guangdong, right?
if it is, I'm sorry to tell that there's no direct bus from Guilin to Xinyi.
you can take a bus from Guilin to Maoming, which departs at 14:00 and the ticket price is CNY 95, and it takes 7 - 8 hours on the way. you can take another bus from Maoming to Xinyi. the bus departs every 30 minutes from Maoming, the price is CNY 20, and the trip takes less than 2 hours.Answered by Larry | Dec. 27, 2011 17:51 - Hi Larry,
Yes, it's Xinyi in Maoming. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate that. I think by taking the bus to Maoming and then to Xinyi will be the better way than Guilin to Guangzhou and Xinyi right?
By the way would you be able to tell me which bus station in Guilin that I can catch the bus? How many bus trip a day to Maoming? I am planning to travel on 5/1/2012, do I have to book the bus ticket in advance? Please help!Answered by Jenny | Dec. 27, 2011 18:53 - yes Jenny,
it is better to go to Maoming and then Xinyi than to Guangzhou and then Xinyi.
there is only one bus departing from Guiling Long-distance Bus Station at 14:00 to Maoming. someone said it took more than 8 hours on way. you don't need to book the ticket in advance, just go to the bus station at least 1 hour before the scheduled departure time and you can get the ticket at the station.
or you can go to Guilin North Railway Station to take a train to Maoming. from Maoming you can also take a train to Xinyi. the train schedule can be searched at:

One more favor to ask, Can you recommend a convenient budget/tourist class hotel in Maoming? Thanks a million.Answered by jenny | Dec. 27, 2011 21:28 - Hi Jenny,
where do you want to live in Maoming? i mean near the railway station, bus station, or near your relative's home?Answered by Larry | Dec. 28, 2011 16:55 - Hi Larry,
My relatives live near Xinyi. They told me that I have to take a bus to Xinyi then they will meet me there to take me to the village where they live. I need to stay over night at Maoming because I will be arriving there very late at night from Guilin. I am not sure whether to take the train or bus from Guilin yet. Any suggestion? The hotel near the train or bus station will be great. Thank you so much for your help again.Answered by Jenny | Dec. 28, 2011 18:46 - Hi Jenny,
i suggest you to take a train from Guilin to Maoming, since there is only one bus a day from Guilin to Maoming.
there is a train departing from Guilin railway station and arriving at Maoming at 20:20. then two trains departing from Maoming East Railway station at 20:45 and 23:02, but you can not catch the 20:45 train, so you will arrive at Xinyi around 00:30 the next day. if it is convenient for your relative to pick you up that late, i think there's no necessary for you to live in a hotel in Maoming.
or if you don't want interrupt your relative that late, you can take a taxi or bus No. 202 to the Maoming East railway station and stay in a hotel near it, and then go to bus station (very close to the railway station) to take a bus to Xinyi.
recommended hotel near Maoming East railway station:Maoming Cuihui Mansion (about 1 km from the railway station).Answered by Larry | Dec. 29, 2011 01:54 - Hi Larry,
Thank you so much for all your help:) I think I should have enough information for this trip. I hope the whether won't get too cold for me. Thanks again.Answered by Jenny | Dec. 29, 2011 19:14
