- WHEN I APPLY TO RENEW MY TEN YEAR PASSPORT FROM CHINESE EMBASSY, DO I REQUIRE A LETTER OR ANY PAPERWORK FROM BRITISH HOME OFFICE TO SHOW I HAVE NOT GOT OR APPLIED FOR A BRITISH PASSPORT. IF I DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS, CAN I RENEW MY PASSPORT SHOWING OLD ONE PLUS PHOTO.S ETC PLUS MY £30. DOES MY INDEFANATE VISA GET TRANSFERED TO MY NEW PASSPORT, OR DO I HAVE TO KEEP OLD TO SHOW I HAVE AN INDEFANATE VISA. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP, XUEXIA.

- Hi,
"A LETTER OR ANY PAPERWORK FROM BRITISH HOME OFFICE" is necessary only if you have gotten the permanent residence permit in the UK.
apart from the your old passport and photos, you also need to prepare the original and photocopy of your valid visa or resident permit in the UK, a photocopy of your personal information page of your old passport, and a completely filled out passport application form which you can download from the official website of Chinese Embassy in the UK.
if you stay in the UK less than 3 years, you also need to provide a paperwork to prove it.
your INDEFANATE VISA is still valid, and you need to keep the old passport. you'd better confirm with the Home Office about your visa. Answered by Tina | Feb. 22, 2012 17:26
