Question about China L Visa (Tourist Visa)
-
Do I need a new visa if I renew my old passport?
I currently am living in China on a student visa that is valid until the end of August. I will be going back to the Philippines in June in order to renew my passport and change my surname since I got married last year. My concern is that once I receive my new passport with a new surname that China will not honor my valid visa in my old passport. Do you know if I will have problems with immigration? If so, what can I do? Will I need to get a new visa?
Thanks for your help..Asked by Marj (Philippines) | May. 14, 2010 10:21Answer Question

- You need to apply for a new Philippine passport with your new married surname. Once you have that new Phillipine passport, bring that with you together with your old passport to the Embassy of China so that the Chinese consul can (re-)stamp a student visa to your new passport, based on your old passport.Answered by Lorna J. - You need not go back to the Philippines to have your passport renewed, &/changed to a new one because of change in name via marriage. You can have your passport renewed there in HKG in the Philippine Consulate, or Philippine Embassy.Answered by Lorna J. (United States) | May. 17, 2010 21:09
