Question about Visa Refusal

We had a contract but a work visa was denied
Hi, my boyfriend was offered a teaching job in china at a brand new international school. The contact who hooked us up with the job told us that before he could offer him a contract he had to check with the government first which he did and we got the contract to come and work there and told me that they would set me up with a coaching job or teach pe in the school once I was over there. With my boyfriends job confirmed we then were put onto another person to sort out our visas. We sent all the relevant documents that she asked for, a few days later she told us we had been denied. Why? Apparently it was for inexperience. My boyfriend has 3 degrees and this is his 3rd year teaching and has the required 8 years experience which was mentioned on the website. He can also get letters from principals and other references saying that he is working well above his teaching years. I don't understand how they can still bounce him after this. our visa contact over in china did not seem very helpful after the first visa refusal and did not seem interested in helping us further. How can we be offered a contract (which had to be approved by the government first in order to send) then be denied a visa..

- As I know, to get a China work visa, Employment Certificate for Foreigners (Work Permit) issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of the PRC is required. Do you have this?Answered by Frank | Aug. 05, 2012 21:24
- our visa contact was trying to get us the expert certificate but that's the guy that bounced us saying we are inexperienced. We asked to speak to him or an english speaker in person about the issue but we were not allowed. We were told not to ask about it any further due to it may cause the company difficulties when they try to apply for visas in future. how is this fair for us :(Answered by Natasha | Aug. 05, 2012 21:37
- Actually, the Work Permit should be provided by your employer in China instead of any visa agent.Answered by Frank | Aug. 05, 2012 22:13
- we did go through the employer but she gave up as soon as we got bounced the first time in getting the certificate to get a visa. we even asked lawyers over here about the visa issue and they said we dont have a chance without the employers support. we have now given up due to the fact that she told us that we should start looking for new jobs as they are looking for replacements. Lucky my boyfriend managed to keep his job here after resigning for this china job. me on the other hand now has to look for another job as I had so stupidly resigned after we had signed the contracts for china. feeling totally screwed over. sigh :( Answered by Natasha | Aug. 05, 2012 22:24
- this is totally true: "we dont have a chance without the employers support".
you should make sure that whether the school you are going to work for is qualified to hire a foreign employee. if the school or company in China is qualified, it can do a lot help when you apply the visa, but if it is not, it will be difficult to get a work visa.
so maybe you should consider this the next time.
good luck!Answered by Tina | Aug. 06, 2012 19:48 - Good rule of thumb is, training schools for fulltime work+ Visa =BAD. They pay well but there are tons of problems. best way into china is to get hired at a college or a university. And then work parttime (if ur in for the money)Answered by Alice (Germany) | Oct. 25, 2012 20:10
