Question about China Customs Declarations

  Are travelers checques to be included in a currency declaration?

  I understand that a traveler needs to make a declaration if the
  amount of foreign currency to be brought in is greater than
  US$5000. One site noted that only cash-and NOT
  travelers checques-were included in this; another site was
  uncertain.
  
  Any clarification on this question would be appreciated.
