Question about Qiang Nationality

  Recent visit to Pingtou Qiangzhai village in Maoxian

  I am quite interested in the very common motive of a skull and horns that is found in wood carvings on the windows, as well as display of skulls and bones at gates, etc. Can someone please provide me a brief explanation as to what animal these skulls and horns belong and what the story is behind these beautiful symbols.

• it is goat's skull ans horn, as goat is the totem of the Qiang people. They believe goats bring good luck and fortune to them.
