Question about Chinese Culture
-
Is there a traditional symbol expressing welcome or good fortune.
I fabricate architectural iron, and I have clients who wants to mount a pair of heavy, metal reinforced doors they purchased from China. They'd like to support them in a wrought iron framework. In the USA it is common to have a plaque or a welcome mat which welcomes guests as they enter the home, or sometimes traditional blessings for the home are displayed. Is there a similar tradition in China, and if there is what sort of characters would be used. I'm hoping to find a symbol which could be used in the ironwork surrounding the doors.
