  Is a divorced Chinese woman expected to buy a flat for her son and pay £20,000 towards his wedding?

  A friend is living with a divorced Chinese woman in Dubai, she expects him to give her £2000 per month in order for her to buy a flat for her son. She says all Chinese women are expected to provide accommodation for their sons, as well as pay £20,000 to him when he gets married. Is this correct?

• Nearly all Chinese mothers would like to buy a house or flat for her son when he gets married. It is kind of routine, but not a must. But paying such a large amount of money per month is absurd.
