Question about China G Visa (Transit Visa)

I am a Costa Rican citizen, do I need transit visa?
I am Costa Rican citizen, living in The Netherlands and have a stop over in Beijing of 7 hours on the way to and back from Thailand. I have a friend there and would like to visit the city and go out of the airport.
Do I need to apply for the transit visa (G) or are there other possibilities? Does the stay permit upon landing applies for my nationality? How does that works?Asked by Maricel Rivera (Costa Rica) | Nov. 12, 2014 06:01Answer Question

- Yes, the stay permit is applied to you. It is eligible for all passengers who transfer in the airpport for less than 24h. You can follow the clear guiding signs to get the permit upon landing or consult the information desk directly.Answered by Cissy | Nov. 22, 2014 21:26
- I am a Pakistani national who is travelling from Melbourne to Vanccouver with 8 hrs stopover in Shanghai. I would love to see my brother during the stopover time. I wonder if I need to apply for the visit visa. Answered by Umar (Pakistan) | Dec. 30, 2014 07:09
- For Umar:
No, you don't need to apply for a visit visa for the 8h's stayover. Just apply for a stay permit after landing, with which you will be allowed to get into the city.Answered by Amy | Dec. 31, 2014 07:03
