When someone has gold in their luggage that they are not supposed to travel with, what happens?
My girlfriend was due to get on a flight yesterday. I received a call from her, explaining there was problems with her luggage. I found out she had two gold bars in her luggage.weighing 2.1 kg a pc. She had said that they were intended as gifts to me when she came here. I do not know what will happen to her. Was told by the travel agency that she now owes a fine for attempting such a thing. Is that true? What will happen to her if the fine is not paid? Where will the authorities take her and what will happen to her? She has paperwork with her and accounts set up for visa and travelers checks with her.
Is there any way of contacting her, and asking her about this situation?Asked by christopher miller (United States) | Feb. 29, 2016 19:53Answer Question

- Well, gold belongs to valuable metal, and needs to be declared to the Customs. Your girlfriend travels with such a great amount of gold. This is a serious problem. She needs to pay tax for it, or she will be fined. If the fine is not paid, she has to bear legal liability. But don't worry. She will contact you once this problem is settled.
