Question about Visa Refusal

Refusal of China Tourist Visa
We are British citizens living in India for the last 4 years. We have an Overseas Citizen of India(OCI) card which allows us to stay in India lifelong if we want to without a visa.We recently applied for a China tourist visa at the Chinese Embassy, New Delhi, India but were refused, the reason given was we should apply in London! This is most absurd.WE have already booked air tickets, hotels and travel itineraries in China as this is a prerequisite to apply for a visa.We were also part of a large tour group and everything has been organised. We stand to lose all the money spent just because of a very silly excuse. Can somebody help/suggest alternatives? We were due to leave on 6th October from India.

- Hi Kalpana, I am sorry to read that. Hope you are well.
I am a British citizen and my wife is a Pakistani national but with the residence permit for the UK. We went for our appointment on 5 October and like you bought our tickets, bookings etc; spoke for around 20 minutes to the local agent, who was well aware of our respective citizenships.
Like you, my wife's visa has also been rejected on the grounds that she should apply in Pakistan! Mine was accepted. It is misleading that there's no mention of this on their website or at the visa appointment. I even exchanged emails with the visa centre before applying making them aware of my wife's citizenship and it wasn't mentioned that she should not bother applying! So like you, am concerned about the potential loss on tickets etc
I will try appealing tomorrow; but am keen to learn about what happened with you? Were you able to eventually get the visa for 6th?Answered by Ahmed (United Kingdom) | Oct. 10, 2017 12:01
