Can I use non-machine readable old passport in Hong Kong and Macau after April 2010?
Hi! I will be visiting Hong Kong and Macau this November 2010. I will be staying there for less than a week so I do not need a visa. However, my Philippine passport is still the old one (green, non-machine readable). It will expire on 2012. I heard some countries have an April 2010 deadline to use machine readable passports, but I am not sure if China (Hong Kong and Macau) is one of them. Can I still use my green, non-machine readable Philippine passport to enter Hong Kong and Macau until its expiration date? Thank you.

- hi,
i didn't heard any news about the policy, i think there's no problem with your passport. but you need to make sure your passport has at least 6 months' validity when you decide to go; but i still suggest you enquire the Chinese Embassy in Philippines.Answered by Lilian | Sep. 27, 2010 19:45
