- hi Paul,
here are the required documents:
(1) your passport or other documents certifying your
identity and citizenship;
(2) "Residence Permit for Foreigners" signed and issued by the public
security department, or identification certificate issued by foreign
affairs department, or entry permit and residence permit for foreigners
who come to China for a short stay;
(3) marital status certification issued by the notary office of your country and confirmed by both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
(or a department authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) of your country and the Chinese embassy or consulate in the said
foreign country; or marital status certification issued by the embassy or
consulate of the said foreign country in China.Answered by Oliva | Dec. 08, 2010 19:30 - Dan, have you consiered bringing your bride to Canada and being married there? Might be a more efficient and less costly way...Answered by Wassami (Japan) | Dec. 09, 2010 03:46
- Hi, I recently married somebody from China (I'm dutch) First you have to be aware that you only can marry her in the province where she is registered. Then you need a recent birth certificate and a recent official paper that says your are not married now. In Canada then you go to the Ministry of Foreign affairs and get them legalized. Next you go to the Chinese embassy in Canada and get them legalized there as well. Then you are ready to come to China and marry. It is good also to get a translation of your passport. There are offices in China that can do the translation. After all this you probably want both to live in Canada? I don't know exactly what is required in Canada, but I guess you'll need an official birth certificate and marriage certificate in English. For that you find a notary and get a notarial statement about her birth and your marriage. Attached to those documents there will be English translations. These statements( translations) have to be legalized by, first, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign affairs and ,next, the Canadian embassy in China. Quite often there is a Foreign affairs office in the province capital which can send the documents to Beijing for you for legalization by both, but it will take time (about 3 weeks) and of course some money.Answered by F (NL) | Dec. 11, 2010 19:22
