Question about Hong Kong Visa

Do a US passport holder need to apply for a Hongkong visa?
I am a US passport holder married to a Chinese national. Today I am in Shanghai, China with my wife's family. I have a 90 day multiple entry visa for China that expires in 2012. Two related questions:
1. If I travel to Hong Kong for a week-end tour, and then return to China, will I "re-enter" China and be allowed to stay another 90 days under my multiple entry visa for China? We would like to stay with my wife's elderly parents for a longer period of time...my wife and her sisters share the responsibility of their care.
2. And...do I need to apply for a Hong Kong Visa?Asked by Tom Engesser (United States) | Mar. 21, 2011 07:08Answer Question

- 1. if you travel to HK and return to China, you re-enter China and can stay for another 90 days.
2. US passport holders are exempt from Hong Kong visa for 90 days, so you don't need to apply for a Hong Kong visa if you go there only for a weekend.Answered by Hong Kong Man | Mar. 21, 2011 21:22
