Question about China G Visa (Transit Visa)

  7 hour layover in Shanghai, do we need a visa to exit airport and go into the city?

  We will be traveling through Shanghai en route to Bangkok fom the US. We have a 7 hour layover and would like to have breakfast in Shanghai (outside of the airport). Do we need a Visa to leave the airport? If so, what kind of Visa do we need? I can travel on a US or Spanish passport, my husband on a US passport. thank you!

• Rose - did you have any problems leaving the airport? I have a 12 hour layover in Shanghai and want to walk around the city. I have a US passport and would like to know if you had any difficulties. Thanks!
