hi Erwin,
there are airport shuttle bus departing at 00:30 midnight from the airport, and you can take the one to shenzhen Marco Polo Hotels (HKD 130 per person), and then take a taxi to the Novotel Hotel (CNY 35 for one cab). you really need to hurry so that you can catch the bus.
it is safe to travel with kids at that time.

thanks a lot for your kindness for sharing with us about those important informations.much ,much appreciated Jackson.this will be our first time to travel to that place.just incase we miss the bus,i'm sure cabs could take us to Novotel Shenzhen too.do you have any idea how much a cab would charge going to Novotel and approximately how long would the travel be?thanks for your help Jackson!god bless.

i'm not sure whether a taxi could take you to Shenzhen as you need to pass the custom control of Hong Kong and mainland China, so i don't think a taxi will go that a long way. you may confirm with the taxi driver, and the approximate fare is around HKD 800 - 900.
if the taxi driver would not like to go to Shenzhen, you can take a taxi to Shenzhen Bay Port first, the costs is aournd HKD 300, pass the control by yourself, and then take a Shenzhen taxi to the hotel, the fare is less than CNY 50.
