D Visa and Residence permit
Hello dear team of chinatour360.
I will marry my chinese girlfriend (from mainland) in Hong Kong this year. We marry there because my friends and family from Germany dont need a visa for Hong Kong. At the moment I have a L Visa (visiting "friends" with invitation from my future wife) for 80 days. I will extend it one time in Beijing. We rented an apartment in Beijing and I have now made the registration for temporary residence, with ends on the day my visa ends.
After the marriage in Hong Kong i want to apply for the D visa there and then go back to Bejing. I understand that I have to apply for residence permit before in Beijing. Is this possible before I am married? Or what kinds of document do I have to present in Hong Kong after oir marriage to get a D visa?Asked by Thomas (Germany) | Mar. 19, 2013 23:35Answer Question

- Dear Thomas,
Thank you for visiting Chinatour360.com!
China is not an immigrant country, so it is difficult for foreigners to get a D visa, unless you have made massive contribution to the country and have to live there at least for 5 years. also, China does not accept citizen with dual nationality, so you have to give up your Germany nationality if you want to be a permanent resident of China. So we suggest that you give up the idea of applying a D visa.
since you are going to get married your Chinese girlfriend, you can apply a family visit visa or a temporary resident permit (if your current L visa expires) or just have your temporary resident permit extended (if your current L visa is stil valid) after you two get registered in the local marriage registration department where you live in mainland China. as you have a Chinese wife then, you will get a longer stay period, a minimun of 6 months and a maximum of 5 years. You can get more information from the local public security bureau.Answered by Chinatour360.com (China) | Mar. 20, 2013 20:23
