  USA resident applying for Z visa in UK

  I am an American citizen who will be visiting the UK on holiday before moving to China for work. I was wondering if I can apply for a Z visa at the Chinese Embassy in the UK even though I am not a resident of the UK.

• No, you cannot. You have to apply for that in your own country at Chinese consulate.
